The Golden Gaia company was founded in 1988 by Charalampos Tsimplidis, to import and trade fine agricultural products worldwide.
Today Golden Gaia, with the wheel now in the hands of Nicholas Tsimplidis, son of its founder, has established itself as one of the most complete and most reliable businesses in the field of standardization, trading and distribution of fruit and vegetables with particular expertise in the potato, onion and garlic.
What we do
Through our modern facilities in the central market of Thessaloniki we daily distribute all varieties and sizes of potato, onion and garlic, supplying a large and steadily growing client list throughout Greece and other Balkan countries.
Our work, exclusively with strictly selected, experienced and trusted Greek and foreign producers, ensures us the stable quality and the absolute reliability towards our small or large customers.
Our Certifications
EUROCERT
EUROCERT is an independent body and the first certification body in Greece since this is certified by the ESYD (National Accreditation Council). It is a global certification for corporate audit. It has been recognized by the European Union. Collaborates with (ΕΛΛΑ-ΔΙΚΑ ΜΑΣ). It mainly deals with food safety.
AGROCERT
AGROCERT has carried out an audit of the quality of agricultural products, has marked the products as PGI (Protected Agricultural Indication) and has carried out checks on whether the process of processing the products is appropriate.
Protected Geographical Indication
Protected Geographical Indication is the certification of the real country of origin of the products. Concerns only food, agricultural products and wines. This certification is mandatory by food law. The
European Union recognizes and accepts the designation PGI (Protected Agricultural Designation).

Potatoes
Potato is a plant that is classified as a vegetable and is grown all over Europe. In Greece it is quite widespread and is at the base of the Mediterranean food chain as it is rich in starch, potassium, carbohydrate and protein that give energy. It also contains vitamins (B1, B2, B6, C) and has antioxidant activity. It grows best in woody and moist vines.
Onions
The onion originates from Southeast Asia and classified in vegetables. It has beneficial properties, antioxidants, it is invigorating and has healing properties. It is easy to grow for this it can be cultivated in all regions of Greece. In cooking is used in various dishes from several countries, but it can to be consumed and raw.
Garlic
The origin of garlic is from Central and East Asia, it has many medicinal and antioxidant properties. Its cultivation in Greece has existed since ancient times and takes place from October to February. It is mainly used to give a more special taste to food.
Potato Seeds
By this term we mean those tubers that are mainly intended for the production of edible potatoes. Potato seeds should be healthy, ie they should not have internal and external alterations. In organic farming the choice of seed is of universal importance, as it is possible to be quite exposed to diseases.
Baby Potatoes
There are several types of potatoes, one of which is baby potatoes. These potatoes are smaller in size and can be eaten with the skin, so we must get it from traders we trust. Their cultivation is difficult and that is why in Greece there are few who have succeeded. They are harvested early, i.e. they are harvested before they are fully ripe. They are more tender and have more flavor.
